God Squad Raised $305!

We had such a great time on Sunday at the end of the year party!  The bounce house, bubbles and temporary tattoos were a big hit….but, so was the massive soccer game the kids had going!  It was impressive!  Thanks to everyone who came out and to those who donated food and helped out!

As promised, our God Squad kids fulfilled their end of the year charity project this past Wednesday.  Both classes raised a combined total of $305 in spare change!  RoxAnn and Liz’s class allocated their funds to the ELCA Good Gifts Project and “Animals Of God’s Global Barnyard To End World Hunger.”   The kids had so much fun constructing their barn banks, and they were so responsible to remember to bring them back in with their change!

Tom’s class used their funds to purchase items for the middle school’s PAW Pantry!  The storm warning made the Fareway trip a little shorter than planned, so I wasn’t able to get a photo of the kids shopping….but wow, look at everything they bought to donate!

I know Tom, RoxAnn and Liz are very proud of the kids’ efforts!  Thank you also to the parents for helping gather the spare change (or supplying it..ha!)  I delivered the items to the Paw Pantry today and they were very appreciative!  Most of the non-food items are gone within a day, so the need is really there!

A couple announcements:  Don’t forget to sign up for Parents’ Night Out on May 14th from 5-8 p.m. Take some time to yourself and bring the kids to church! Courtney, Nate and our youth volunteers will have dinner, snacks, games and various faith-based activities to keep the kids busy! The cost is $5 per child with proceeds to benefit our children/youth programming. If your child attends Nate’s youth group on Wednesdays, they have volunteered to help with this event–therefore there is no charge for them (please let me know if your youth student cannot make it). Nursery volunteers are needed for this event, please let Courtney know if you’re interested in helping. IMPORTANT:  If you are interested in sending your kids to this event please sign up soon. If too few sign up, the event will be cancelled. Click here to sign up.

Our kids will once again have the privilege to work with Sue Brakhane and Jim Nelson in the children’s garden on Sunday, May 22 from 9-10:20 so mark your calendars for this event!  Please send your kids in clothes that are ok to get dirty!

The sign up link for our summer cooking event and Kool-Aid and canvas event will be available this upcoming week!  Stay tuned!
