Halloween, Christmas Boxes, Parents’ Night Out!

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

We are having so much fun at St. Paul already this fall!   The 2nd-6th graders continue to practice for the Dec. 11 Christmas Program during both services on Wednesday nights. These kids will resume regular God Squad activities following the program. This year’s program will again take place during both services on the 11th. I know it’s a long morning for the kids, so I will definitely have snacks and activities to keep the kids entertained between services on program day.  The Pre-K through first grade kids will begin practice during the regularly scheduled Sunday School music portion at 9:30 starting in November (they will practice for 15 minutes and then return to regular Sunday School class).

The God Squad Halloween party is this Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:30.  We will start with a quick pizza dinner and I’ll have a few activities, photo booth and games set up for the kiddos throughout the church.  Each child will get to take a decorated pumpkin home from this event.  Looking forward to it!   No costumes are necessary as I’ll have a few silly masks (nothing scary) set up in the photo booth for costume dress up/fun!  If you have a St. Paul child who wants to attend the party, but does not already attend God Squad please let me (Courtney) know ASAP so I can plan for that child.  Also, if you’re willing to donate candy for this event, please leave it in the church kitchen this Sunday if possible.

The God Squad students will pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child on Nov. 9.  After dinner, we will pair the younger kids with the older kids to pack boxes.  Last year we had 103 boxes!!  We would like to include a photo of each child with their box so I’m working on taking those photos as I can when I see your kiddos at church.  An information sheet will be sent home with your child this week and boxes are already currently in the narthex for collection items.

Also, please save the date for our second St. Paul Parents’ Night Out on Dec. 3 from 5-8 p.m.  Just like last time, the charge is only $5 per child and we will have dinner, crafts, games, dancing and a movie in the sanctuary to keep your kids busy!  Take some time to do some Christmas shopping or just RELAX.  This was such a fun event in May and I look forward to doing it again.  A sign up will be posted soon!

Thank you so much for entrusting us with your children as they grow in their faith. I can’t say enough good things about how wonderful these kids are!

Christmas Program Details

Season’s Greetings!

We are excited to announce that Alan Feirer and Beth Miller will be heading up the Youth Christmas Program again this year!  It will be Sunday, December 11th during both services.  Courtney will provide activities and snacks between services to keep the kids entertained.

The 2nd-6th grade Christmas Program Practice will begin this Wednesday evening during the God Squad hour.  ALL God Squad kids and St. Paul Sunday School kids are invited to participate in the program. We will start with a meal at 5:15 as usual and practice will start at 5:30 and run until 6:30.  Attendance is mandatory the first night since we assign parts that night.  If you cannot make it Wednesday night, please let Beth or Courtney know in advance so Beth can save a part out.  Attendance at both services on December 11 is required for a speaking part.

PreK-1st practice will be Sunday mornings starting in November during the Sunday school music portion. They will continue to hold regular God Squad class sessions with RoxAnn and Liz as usual while the older kids practice.

We have a variety of part sizes available.  Please discuss with your child what size part they will feel most comfortable with.  The large parts usually run 10-15 lines, medium size parts 5-10 and small parts 1-4.  We also have non-speaking roles if they feel more comfortable that way.

We will provide all costumes or make them easily attainable.  No special purchases should be made to participate.

All lines must be memorized by the end of November.

If you have any questions, please call Beth at 205-9519.  We are looking forward to seeing your children Wednesday night!

Reminder: Bell Choir starts this Wednesday after the Christmas Program Practice (6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.).  If you want to sign your third-sixth grader up please contact Beth Miller!  Second graders will be accepted into bell choir on a case by case basis. Please speak to Beth if you have a second grader interested in Bell Choir.

Thank you for your participation!

Fall is HERE!

It’s finally starting to feel like fall! Over the past two weeks, the Pre-K through 3rd grade Sunday School kids have covered “Two Masters,” Luke 16:1-13 and “Parable of the Rich Man,” Luke 16:19-31.  Our Pre-K students even went home with some fun “You Can Help” kits courtesy of Camma Stott!  Our 4th-6th graders are working on Genesis and covered “Creation and God’s Image,” and “Trusting God: Noah and the Flood.”  I cannot rave enough about all of our educators this year…they are awesome!

Over the past two weeks our God Squad kids have discussed “Joseph and His Coat of Many Colors,” and “Joseph in Egypt.”   Practice for the Christmas Program will begin Oct. 12 (More details to come on that next week).

We still need to find volunteers to provide and serve the Oct. 12 and Dec. 14 (Christmas Party) God Squad Meals.  If you’re interested please let Courtney know!   Thank you for trusting us with your children, they are such a ray of sunshine for our church!
