Summer Service Schedule

Starting June 1 we will have one service at 9:00 am this summer.  Our two-service schedule will resume on Rally Day, September 8.

From Pastor Joel

Dear St. Paul Family,

With mixed emotions of sadness and anticipation I am tendering my resignation as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church. It has been a difficult process of discernment over the past few months while in a call process with Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. With encouragement from the Southeastern Iowa Synod office, Redeemer’s call committee contacted me in February, initiating a series of interviews which led to an eventual extension of a call to be their pastor, which was approved by Bishop Burk on July 1.

Because this call was offered during my sabbatical, I will be returning early from the initial scheduled time. I will resume pastoral duties starting Tuesday, July 16. In the following weeks I will work closely with congregational leadership on the next steps as you begin the transition to a new pastor. My goal is to accomplish everything in my power to provide for a smooth transition. My last Sunday will be August 11.

Please feel free to contact President Liz Hansen, Vice President Jason Stolte, or me if you have questions. The council will be in communication with you regarding the duties of the congregation to prepare for a call process.

Annie, our children, and I are deeply grateful for our decade at St. Paul and in the Winterset community. These are years filled with joy and sadness, friendship, and memories we will cherish always. I am grateful for your generosity and support for my ministry here, and for allowing me to serve with you as your pastor. I believe St. Paul is beginning an exciting new phase of ministry! Our prayers and warm wishes are with you as you begin the next chapter of your mission in Christ’s name.

In Christ’s Peace,
Pr. Joel Nau
